Chapter 6

Harvey's question made Eloise cringe. In fact, she and Max hadn't gotten close at all! The most they'd done was a light peck, that was all!

Eloise went silent for a while.

Harvey didn't press on; he just finished a cigarette slowly as the convoy started to move. He parked the car to the side. Before Eloise could ask, he unbuckled her seatbelt. Then, he lifted her onto his lap.

He took off her coat, she was wearing barely anything underneath, and her clothes were a bit damp, quickly staining his steel-gray trousers. Just looking at it was kind of a turn-on.

Outside, the storm was raging. In front of the car window, the wipers were

swinging rhythmically. The scene inside the car was sometimes clear, sometimes blurry.
