Chapter 15

The restaurant clocked out at ten in the evening.

Eloise stepped out into moderate rain. Raindrops descended onto the grey road, illuminating the reflected lamplights into a radiant display.

Eloise didn't have an umbrella, so she used her handbag as a shield, scampering two hundred meters to take shelter at a bus stop. Her clothes were soaking wet, and she shivered as she fumbled with her phone to call a cab. Getting a taxi in this weather was a tough sell. Eloise waited forever, but no cab showed up.

Across the street, at the bus stop, a golden Bentley was parked by the roadside. Harvey sat in the car, watching Eloise in silence. He watched her running in the rain, her clothes drenched. Her whole body was shivering from the cold.

Orlena was in the passenger seat. She'd been fiddling with her phone for an hour, yawning out of boredom. "Harvey, didn't you say you were taking me for a midnight snack? You've been picky for an hour but still can't decide where to go. Hey, isn't that Landon's girlfriend?"

Harvey lazily ran his fingers over the steering wheel, asking, "Landon's girlfriend?"

Orlena pointed out the window. "That really pretty girl! Can we give her a lift?" Harvey hesitated for a bit. "Isn't it quite off to give Landon's girlfriend a ride?" "She finally hailed a cab!" Orlena suddenly said with a hint of regret.
