Chapter 145

Eloise posed a question.

Harvey was clearly caught off guard.

He slowly released Eloise and stood there puffing on his cigarette.

Eloise was prepared, but she still felt a pang of regret.

She slowly stood up.

After a moment of silence, she said in a low voice, "Harvey, all you want is a physical relationship. But I want love, and I even want marriage. So you see, we're not compatible. Our passion might end up in resentment. Why bother?"

Harvey tossed his cigarette and stomped it out.

He watched her in the dim light.

Eloise's face was delicate, her eyes slightly red, making her look as adorable as a bunny.

Harvey thought for a moment before he spoke.

"Eloise, I admit that before you, I did equate relationships with work. Spending some money and energy and then getting returns. I didn't see anything wrong with that. But I don't just want to sleep with you. Otherwise, I wouldn't need to pester you, right?"

Eloise looked at him, knowing he hadn't gotten to the point yet.

Sure enough, Harvey's gaze deepened.

He said softly, "Eloise, I don't know where we can go. But my feelings for you are serious, and I've never pestered any other woman. You're the first."

Eloise lowered her eyes.

Harvey didn't deceive her or sweet talk her.

He gently held her chin, "Eloise, I like you."

But it wasn't love yet.

His love burned too fiercely in his youth, and he hadn't found that fluttering feeling for a girl yet.

He did like Eloise, and their recent arguments had brought him down.

More so, he was uncomfortable with his disrupted routine.

He shouldn't have said these things to her, any girl hearing them wouldn't want to reconcile, but Harvey felt some pity for Eloise.

He didn't want to lie to her.

Harvey stepped back.

A calm expression appeared on his handsome face, "Eloise, I'm sorry. I can't give you what you want."

Including marriage and children.

The night wind was fierce.

Eloise felt cold, and she gently pulled on her coat.
