Inside the silver light were a bunch of bugs multiplying and growing. It seemed they could devour her soul at any given moment.
From the Curse Magic inherited from Franciscus, James found out these were Deadgory Bugs.
Deadgory Bugs could parasitize and devour one's soul. Although very rare, they could reproduce rapidly after being planted into the soul of a living being.
Regardless of cultivation rank, reincarnating would be impossible if one had their soul destroyed by Deadgory Bugs.
