Chapter 339: Breakfast Tensions I

Ramsey

I waited at the foot of the stairs, watching as Lyla descended. One look at her face told me she hadn't slept well despite going to bed on time yesterday. Her eyes were tired, and her movements lacked their usual grace.

"You look tired. Are you alright?" I asked, looking at her with concern. Should I call a healer?"

"No, I'm fine," she replied, yawning. "Just tired. I guess I didn't sleep as much as I wanted."

That surprised me because she had slept so well that she was still asleep when I left the bedroom this morning.

"Do you need to rest more? I can escort you back to the bedroom?"

"No!" she yawned without covering her mouth. "Sorry, dear. Don't worry; I'll be fine, and I'm hungry. In your text, you said it's important we all eat breakfast together this morning."

I nodded and took her hand, guiding her toward the dining room. When we reached the doorway, I felt her freeze beside me. She could see the twenty Alpha Lycans seated at our extended dining table through the transparent dining doors, all in formal attire.

"I'm sorry," I whispered quickly. "I didn't inform you in time. Since you fell asleep last night and missed meeting the Alphas, I had to invite them for breakfast. Is that okay by you?"

Lyla nodded, squeezing my hand. "It's fine. Also, you should have woken me up last night. I swear I didn't want to sleep that deeply. One minute I was resting my eyes, and the next it was morning."

I chuckled. "That's exactly why I let you be. You were sleeping so soundly that I didn't want to disturb you."

I pushed open the dining room door and indicated that Lyla should go in first before coming in after her. The moment we entered, everyone seated at the dining table – The Alpha Lycans, Lenny, Miriam, and Caius- rose to their feet —a sign of respect that surprised me, given their usual arrogance.

"The Lycan Leader and the Moonsinger grace us with their presence," Alpha Winters, the eldest among them, announced. His eyes raked up and down Lyla's form as though he needed to confirm she was the Moonsinger.

Lyla stepped forward confidently despite her fatigue and addressed the room. "Welcome to White Mountain and to White Moon Pack," she started with a small smile. "I hope the journey was good? I apologise for missing our meeting last night. Something came up that needed my attention."

"No apology needed," Alpha Vega said, assessing Lyla with curiosity. "We understand the Moonsinger's duties are demanding, and the Lycan Leader had informed us, too. He said it was a woman's matter. Is it sorted out now?"

"Yes, it is," Lyla turned to her. "It's refreshing to see another woman leading. Werewolves might be late to the game, but we are beginning to see the advantages of letting women lead. It also tells me I am not alone."
