Chapter 361: The price of love II

Ramsey

"Your mate will lead the pack in your absence, and when your sons are grown, they can lead. However, for the first time, one person would rule as the Lycan leader and the other would rule as Alpha of the White Moon pack."

Circe’s voice was practical, but I could see the sadness in her eyes.

The pack will survive, Ramsey. You’re giving them their Luna and the next generation of leaders."

"And my grandfather... will he survive the outcome?"

"He will," Circe nodded. "This is not the first time he’s losing a loved one, and his grandchildren would be there to keep him company. But you don’t need to worry about that. For now, focus on the next twenty-four hours. Spend time with your mate. Create memories that will sustain her in the years to come."

I stood up, feeling older than my years. "Thank you, Circe. For finding another way."

"Don’t thank me yet," she warned. "This path is harder than the original prophecy in many ways. You’re choosing to save someone you love by damning yourself. That’s not heroism, Ramsey – that’s love in its purest, most devastating form."

I left Circe’s room with my fate sealed. As I walked back toward our room, I tried to memorise every detail – the way the morning light fell through the windows, the familiar scents of home, the sounds of my pack waking up for another day.

When I reached our door, I paused with my hand on the handle. Inside was everything I was about to lose – my wife, my unborn children, my future. But also, everything I was determined to save.

I opened the door to find Lyla awake, sitting up in bed with the sheets pooled around her waist. She smiled when she saw me, that radiant expression that had captivated me from the first moment we met.
