Selene’s body jolted violently as an unbearable wave of pain surged through her. The sensation was indescribable, leaving her gasping for air. Kane leaned in closer, his presence overwhelming, and lowered his head to lick the wound where the stake had pierced her neck.

“What the hell are you doing?” she demanded, trying to pull her head away from him, her voice shaky.

His eyes burned with fury, his expression a storm of rage. Selene blinked, her senses slowly returning, and realized what he was doing–he was healing her. But why? Why would he do this?

Could it be his wolf acting out of instinct to protect its mate? It was impossible to believe that Alpha Kane–the same man who had tormented her–would care enough to save her.
