“Tom, we agreed not to contact each other until everything was done,” Charlotte said as she hid in her room to receive the call.

Her heart thumped loudly, and she feared someone might hear it. What was Tom thinking to call her when they had agreed that all the calls would be done by her?

“I haven’t had any updates, and you promised to call me every other day. None of that has happened as well,” Tom responded from the other end of the line, jealousy lacing his tone.

He had eyes on Charlotte, and they had been dating since she was in college in New York. After graduation, she returned to her pack briefly to visit her parents.

There she met Alpha Nick, who was visiting due to pack business, and they were tied together by the mate bond. Alpha Nick whisked her to his pack instantly, intending to mark and claim her, but Charlotte’s heart was already

Tom was unamused by what he was hearing, knowing how obsessed Nick was with his mate. Tom and Nick had been childhood friends, growing to the level of best friends before Tom left for New York City.
