The Beta’s Regret

My heart beat widly as we ran.

I could still hear the noise behind us. Screams of horror as people continued to fight against each other. The shouts of fear and pain. We left it all behind as Tiara increased her speed.

We ran past the palace, and went around it until Tiara brought us to the woods at the back. Tiara's paws hit against the floor in quick succession

I could still feel Hades behind me.

His presence was so strong that I feared we wouldn't be outrun it.

I could hear his whispers, like a snake's hiss, threatening me.

He was getting closer, way too close and I begged Tiara to run as fast as we could.

Tiara weaved through the trees in the woods trying to see if I could loose him, but it was of no use. There was almost no escaping Hades shadow.

Ahead of me, I saw that the woods had opened into an opened field. We ran faster as Tiara's fangs held on tightly to Lily's clothes, holding her tightly and yet comfortably.

The infant was quiet, almost as if she knew she was in safe hands, but I could feel her fear. I saw it in the wide-eyed look she gave to me.

Finally, I burst out from the woods into the open field. I began to run free as my paws brushed against the fresh leaves of the field.

"Enough!" I heard a voice boom through the air.

The ground shook. It was like a sudden earthquake was happening. I came to a sudden stop as I tried to find my balance.

Tiara's ears perked up. The ground began to split open.

I staggered, unable to withstand the force of the earthquake despite how hard I tried to maintain my balance.

My heart trembled and I suddenly felt uneasy.

Suddenly, Tiara's paws gave way and we landed on the floor. Tiara rolled to the side to protect Lily from getting injured as the infant fell to the floor.

Tiara gasped, her breaths coming out heavy and disoriented.

Tiara lifted her head just in time to see the shadow shift, for twisting as the shape changed into a man all dressed in black.

He was handsome, way more handsome than any man I knew, it was beyond the ordinary and yet there was something sinister about the looks.

His presence stuck to the air, choking the breath out of me.

Hades walked to a stop before Tiara and stretched his hand. His face was fixed in a deep scowl that reflected his displeasure.

"Hand the girl over." Hades said with a sneer, his voice so cold that Tiara shivered. There was no request in his tone. It was a command through and through. "Now!" he growled.
