I wake up in a hospital bed. I look over and see Jordan is sitting in the chair beside me holding my hand. I give his hand a squeeze.

“Thank you.” It comes out as just a rasp.

“Claire, you’re awake! Are you okay?” He gets up frantically, holding my hand in his and looks at me with concern.

“My baby.” I say as I remember seeing blood. My whole body aches but none of that mattered at this

moment.

“I’ll go get the doctor. I wasn’t allowed to be in the room until just a few minutes ago.” I watch as Jordan runs out and call for a nurse, letting her know I was awake. Jordan comes back in and grabs my hand again.

“I found your husband’s phone number and left a voicemail. I’m sure he’ll be here soon and the nurse is going to get your doctor.” I slowly bring my hand to caress his cheek.
