Chapter 94: Together Again
The hospital hallways were quiet except for doctors talking softly and machines beeping. Daniel walked quickly through the clean-smelling halls, helping Anya as they headed to the exit. Though they had been through something scary, Daniel was focused on making sure Anya was okay.
When they got to the hospital, Daniel helped Anya through the sliding doors. Inside, everything was clean and quiet. A doctor wearing a white coat came to them with a kind smile.
"Mr. Shaw, you're here for Mrs. Shaw's checkup. Please follow me," the doctor said.
In the doctor's office, he explained how Anya was doing and what care she needed. But Daniel got frustrated listening to the doctor. Even though the doctor said Anya would get better quickly, Daniel didn't believe it. He thought Anya needed more care and watching. Not happy with the doctor saying Anya was just thirsty and had some small cuts, Daniel left the room. He called a special doctor who was known for being very good and private, asking them to fly in to help.
Anya thought Daniel was worrying too much, but she didn't know how to calm him down. She could tell he just needed something to do. She told him she wanted to go home and rest, so he carried her out of the hospital.
When they got to the doors, cool air hit their faces, feeling different from the hospital air. The street lights made everything look peaceful, very different from the rescue that had just happened.
Daniel carefully helped Emma into their car, making sure she was comfortable in the leather seats.
