Hertha was a bundle of nerves, her hand still clutching Alaric's arm, frozen in place, too scared to answer the door.

The doorbell rang again, pulling at Hertha's nerves like a relentless tug-of-war. Her heart pounded like a drum solo, her scalp tingled, and her breath seemed to freeze in her lungs.

She glanced at Alaric in panic, only to find him casually tilting his head, those captivating eyes fixed on her, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips, exuding a carefree and slightly roguish vibe.

Seeing his relaxed demeanor made Hertha think of the possibility that her little munchkins might be outside. If she opened the door now, they would run straight into this irresponsible man who might at any moment compete with her for their attention.

Hertha felt like she was on the verge of a breakdown.

Without thinking, she gripped Alaric's arm tighter, ready to drag him away and stuff him into a room.

Just as she moved, Alaric chuckled lightly, "I'm curious to see who's at the door, making you this scared."

With that, he stepped forward to open the door.

"No..." Hertha's eyes widened, about to stop him, but it was already too late.

Alaric swung the door open.
