The more she dodged, the more Hertha was convinced: "So, the all-knowing friend my mom keeps talking about is you, Thalassa."

Cornered, Thalassa had no choice but to admit, "When your mom called me, I couldn't just play dumb, could I?"

"You spilled the beans about me and Alaric to my mom?" Hertha gasped in shock.

"I didn't mention his fling with Georgia," Thalassa confessed, noticing Hertha's stunned expression. She knew she had messed up and begged for forgiveness, "Hertha, I'm so sorry I didn't consult you first before I let slip about Alaric. It was my mistake. But your mom was so upset on the phone yesterday. I couldn't bear letting her worry without knowing anything, so I told her. I promise, I won't say another word in the future."

Coming back to her senses and seeing Thalassa's guilty face, Hertha embraced her, "Thalassa, you've actually done me a huge favor. My mom is truly a mastermind; she has this one move to test Alaric, to see if his love for me is genuine, if he truly wants to marry me, if he's really faithful to just me. Without my mom, I'd still be clueless."

Thalassa froze, thinking Hertha would scold her, but instead, she was grateful.

It made sense. Hertha and her mother were so close that some things were hard to express directly. Thalassa, acting as a mediator, managed to convey everything clearly, allowing Kimberly to accept the situation with more understanding.
