Kimberly was about to say something else when Hertha interjected, "I'll go get the door."

"Isn't he outside?" Kimberly asked, confused.

"He's a guest, and he's got two kids with him," Hertha replied curtly, not wasting any more time and pulling open the kitchen door.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw Alaric, about to open the door with two children in his arms.

"Stay with the kids, I'll get the door," Hertha told him.

Alaric paused, then went back to the play mat with the kids, who were clearly overjoyed to see him. They clung to him, wanting him to join in their Lego building game. Normally, Alaric would find such a game childish, but playing with the kids, he found it surprisingly fun.

Reaching the door, Hertha opened it, expecting to see Thalassa, and was all smiles. However, her smile froze when she saw the two elderly figures standing there instead. The kindly looking grandmother, smiling warmly, and the grandfather, whose stern face softened into a kind expression upon smiling.

It took Hertha a second to realize they were Alaric's grandparents!
