"Yeah, Mom, Dad's actually doing great." Daniel, worried someone might snatch Brittany away, after much contemplation, decided to reveal that Dad was still alive.

Daniel ate slowly, and halfway through, Brittany went off to the restroom. Coming out, she caught snippets of a conversation not too far away. "Mayor, the offer from the Ulbricht family is just too low."

"Damn it, the guy Elijah brought in is tough, got us by the balls. If we don't agree to the demolition, all our dirty laundry's gonna get aired!"

The mayor grit his teeth, "Get to that guy immediately. Thinks he can threaten me? I want him gone!"
