The more she interacted with Caspian, the more familiar he seemed to Brittany. It was as though deep marks had been etched into their lives, binding them together before they even realized it. Isaac set his spoon down, his gaze profound and shadowed. "Yes."

Brittany clutched his sleeve, a hint of desperation in her voice. "Then what are we to each other?"

"What do you think?"

Isaac glanced around. "Don't you feel that this house, its decoration, or even the style, seems familiar?"

Brittany swallowed hard, struggling for words. "I...I do."

It was odd. Despite her scarce interactions with Caspian, seeing him always gave her the impression he was the one she had been searching for.

She licked her lips, tentatively asking, "Are we... lovers?"

Isaac remained silent.

"Married?"

"But, I've seen pictures, you're not Isaac-"

Brittany faltered.

Isaac opened his mouth to respond when suddenly, a knock on the door interrupted her train of thought.

Isaac swiftly got up, pressing his hand against the back of his hand, and pulled out the IV needle, closing the door firmly. "If I don't permit you to leave, you stay put." Realizing the gravity of the situation, Brittany nodded in understanding.
