Hestia gently set Twila down, her face marked by concern. "How many times have you met him?" "Twice."

Twila's eyes were wide with innocence. "Mom, what's wrong?"

Hestia took a deep breath. "From now on, I don't want you seeing him again."

But Twila protested, "But he's so cool, and he's really nice to me."

Hestia's face darkened. "Listen to me, please."

Twila was taken aback, and after a moment, she softly apologized, "Mom, I understand now."

Realizing she might have been too harsh, Hestia hugged her. "Twila, you're the most important person in my life. I can't bear the thought of anything happening to you, okay?"

Though Twila was saddened at the thought of not seeing Eltham again, her mother mattered more. She tried to act more grown-up than her years, reassuring her mother with a pat, "Mom, don't worry. I'll always be here with you." Hestia sighed in relief but remained vigilant, constantly keeping Twila close to ensure she wouldn't run into Eltham again.

Nathan stopped by to visit Twila, bringing a bouquet of flowers and some of Twila's favorite cupcakes.

Twila greeted him sweetly, "Mr. Jarvis."

Nathan playfully pinched her cheek, then turned to Hestia, "Ms. Bennett, I've arranged for the best doctors to give Twila a thorough check-up." Since moving to Craneville, Twila had been sick quite frequently. Hestia was worried there might be an underlying issue making her restless.
