Hannah’s eyes were red-rimmed. She had grown up with Brittany and knew better than anyone how much Brittany had given.
Brittany had been into Finn since they were kids. Four years of college, and she’d been totally head over heels for him!
Brittany couldn’t hide the pain in her heart, her eyes red. “Hannah.”
Finn turned his head in disbelief. “What are you even saying?”
“Don’t you get it?” Hannah had had enough. Then she decided to spill the beans. “Okay, let me break it down for you. That time you and Brittany were kidnapped, it was Brittany who went for help. But she got nabbed by the kidnappers and almost got the cra p beaten out of her. If it weren’t for…” Hannah choked up. “If I hadn’t brought the cops in the nick of time, she would have been dead! And what did you do? Brittany was in the hospital for months. Did you even give a dam n?”
The more Hannah thought about it, the more she felt Brittany got the short end of the stick. Tears rolled down her cheeks.
Finn shook his head. “No way, she dumped me how could she be the one who saved me?”
He clearly remembered that Brittany had dumped him. He was hospitalized, and Brittany didn’t care about him at all, and she didn’t even apologize afterward!

“If you don’t believe me, you can ask Brittany’s family! Brittany, this guy doesn’t deserve us. Let’s go.”
Hannah tried to lead Brittany away.
“Brittany.” Finn’s voice choked, “Hannah’s lying, right?”
Brittany looked at him, her eyes filled with disappointment. Her silence answered his question.
“Brittany, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you saved me. I thought you dumped me. I thought you left
me…”

How could he have messed up so badly? He misunderstood Brittany. From the beginning. Brittany had been his savior!
But what had he done all these years? He toyed with Brittany’s feelings, betrayed her, even planned to marry Patrina, and chose her favorite wedding dress!
Finn was about to lose it. “Brittany, why didn’t you tell me? If you had, I wouldn’t have screwed up so much, Brittany…”
Brittany seemed to realize something and tried to keep her cool. “So, you always thought I dumped you, and you stayed with me just for revenge, right?”
Finn’s face was full of pain, and he couldn’t open his mouth to speak.
He really screwed up. Why didn’t Brittany tell him earlier, why hadn’t she mentioned it once all these years?
“Finn, what the hell do you take me for? You distanced yourself from me because of this and played with my feelings. Every time I planned the future with you, did you feel smug? Did you feel like you had me wrapped around your finger?”
Brittany had never hated Finn so much, even a single glance at him made her sick.
“No, Brittany. I screwed up.”
