Chapter 365

In a no-go zone where not a single car dared to tread, Preston ignored the police cars barricading the way and slammed the accelerator, zooming past them.

Freya, who had just unbuckled her seatbelt, was nearly thrown forward by the sudden surge of power.

"You might want to buckle up unless you fancy a concussion," Preston advised, a hint of amusement in his voice.

"You!" Freya snapped her seatbelt back into place almost instantly upon his warning.

The police cars, taken aback by Preston's audacity to break through, were even more determined now. As Preston's car hit the main streets, additional police units joined the fray, causing severe congestion.

This was downtown, the heart of the city's hustle and bustle. A spectacle here would undoubtedly make the morning headlines.

Surrounded by police cars, Freya could only think one thing: they were utterly doomed.

She was swamped with regret for getting mixed up with Preston, a guy way more powerful and trouble-making than she'd thought. The never-ending honking from the other cars, all pushing for Preston's ride to get a move on, just boosted the mayhem. The cops were now trying to pry open the doors of Preston's car.

Looking at the faces behind the car window, Freya felt a knot of anxiety. She hoped this wouldn't escalate further, praying it wouldn't end up as a highlight on the evening news.
