The CEO Gets What He Wants
Chapter 106
Upon hearing the housekeeper's words, Rory rushed over to hug Avery. “What do I do? Daddy's back!”
The housekeeper cast Avery a troubled look as well.
“If he asks about it, I'll tell him that I was the one who brought the instant noodles here,” Avery said.
“Thank you, Ms. Avery. I have two sons still studying, and I really can't lose this job.” The housekeeper turned to look at the corridor before turning back and rubbing her hands nervously.
“I understand.”
Avery glanced at the instant noodles, which were almost ready. The scent had already filled the room, and Cayden would surely catch a whiff of it once he entered the space. He would still discover the noodles even if they were to throw them away now.
Hence, she reckoned they might as well not do that.
Cayden refused to let his children eat any junk food because he was a man born with a silver spoon. Even though he had once ended up at a small place like Livingsfill, he was born a rich child.
It was not strange for the habits of a rich child to differ from an average child.
The peculiar relationship that they had still went on—perhaps it would only end if she got married—because Cayden was still adamant about maintaining it.
Avery did not know which part of her he liked; she guessed that maybe he had not found out everything about her yet, so he was still interested in her.
A man who despised junk food would certainly become enraged at her and resentful of her if he were to see her feeding his children junk food. From then on, he would be able to realize what kind of lousy person she was and assume that she was not worthy of him.
Zachary was gleefully pursing his lips and playing with his console on his bed.
All of a sudden, a low male voice traveled into his ears.
“You hurt your leg?”
Zachary turned toward the doorway. When he saw his father in a suit walking toward him, he nearly dropped the console off the bed.
That was a birthday present from his Granduncle Toby, and he would not get another present identical to the console if he were to drop and break it.
After all, Cayden did not allow him to spend much time on games.
Zachary ignored his father and quickly dashed over to save his falling console.
“Oh, thank goodness!” Zachary ended the round as he hugged his beloved console. Then, he lifted his head and looked at his father.
Cayden was standing by his bedside and looking down at his son's short leg. “Why did you jump off the building?”
“That's because... That's because I want to see Ms. Ery...”
“You wanted to see her and you decided to jump off the building just because she wasn't coming?” Cayden had been frightened out of his wits when he received a call from Kendrick telling him that his son broke his leg.
Fortunately, Kendrick had also swiftly told him that the news about the boy jumping off the building was fake. There was a safety air cushion at the bottom, and even if Zachary jumped off the thirtieth floor, he would still be fine.
Zachary could hear the chiding tone from his father's voice, so he lowered his head and mumbled, “Daddy, I'm sorry...”
“There are many ways to meet her. You're not allowed to do something risky like this anymore.” Cayden stepped forward to pat his son's head before turning and leaving the room.
When the housekeeper saw her employer's figure, she walked over to greet, “Mr. Moore.”
Cayden nodded and turned to look in the direction of the kitchen.
Avery took out an insulated bowl, which would make sure that the children would not scald themselves when they held the bowl. She then put in the cooked noodles and took two forks before heading out.
She only managed to take two steps out of the kitchen when she encountered the man entering.
An awkward feeling struck Avery. She had just left the place in the morning, but she was already back. Moreover, she had cooked for the children. There was nothing she could say to explain the situation.
“What is this? Did you make this?” Cayden deliberately asked, lowering his head to look at the white bowl in her hands.
“A pack of instant noodles and two eggs. I made them for Zach and Rory,” Avery confessed.
When the housekeeper heard that, she sighed in relief. Yet, at the same time, she was panicking, for she was afraid that Cayden would lose his temper at Avery.
Ms. Avery is only twenty-four, and she looks like someone who gets embarrassed easily. How is she going to take it when Mr. Moore turns furious? She's going to start crying, I bet.
Just as the housekeeper was hesitating about whether to step forward and confess that it was the instant noodles she had kept hidden and not Avery's, she heard Cayden ask, “Do you have more? I'm hungry too.”
The housekeeper was speechless.
What? I didn't mishear him, did I? Did the man who has been insisting that junk food is poison and refusing to let his children eat it while making sure that he did the same say that he wants to eat instant noodles?
Avery looked at him in shock, at a loss for words.
I'm about to feed his children junk food. Is he not going to be mad at me? Moreover, did he just ask to have a bowl too?
Avery gulped nervously. She was in the Moore family's territory, and she had to be wary of the head of the family losing his temper.
Maybe it's the calm before the storm for him to say that he wants a bowl as well. When I turn to make him a bowl, he'll start fuming.
“Daddy, there's another pack left.”
