Dylan turned his head to the side and spoke to the lady sitting right beside him. “Mom, the play is about to begin, so let's not discuss any matter now. It'll disturb the audience.”

Dylan's voice had always been even, and his tone was rather flat.

It didn't matter who he was talking to or what he was doing. His tone would always remain flat, and that made it easy for others to recognize him.

Avery only remembered his voice because he was a despicable man with zero morals and would take advantage of others' misfortune. In short, he was the scum who had done all sorts of shameless things, and that was why she recognized him.

Every word... or rather, every threat Dylan made was carved into her brain.

Hearing his voice in that theater and seeing his stoic expression from the side soured Avery's mood.

“The play hasn't started, has it? So how am I bothering anyone now?” challenged Talia. She lowered her voice, but she couldn't stop the overwhelming emotions burning in her heart, so she kept nagging. “I know you too well. The second the play is over, you will have someone take your dad and me home so that neither of us has the chance to say anything.”

Dylan didn't refute what his mother said. In a way, that was a silent admission.

His silence prompted Talia to strike the iron while it was hot. “Your father and I were happy about you getting married, but you've only been married for a few days, and drama is already unfolding. Someone came to our house and claimed that you kidnapped her granddaughter-in-law! Both families will look bad if the news is publicized. Listen to me, Dylan. Just get a divorce.”

Dylan didn't reply. He kept his gaze ahead and stared at the stage, where the curtains still hadn't been lifted.

Toby joined in the conversation at that moment. “It's true that your mom and I have been nagging at you and telling you to get married soon so that you can give us an heir. However, we never thought that your marriage would cause a problem so big that it is affecting the peace between the families. You need to deal with this issue accordingly.”

Talia couldn't suppress her emotions anymore, so she cut in again to take over the conversation. “Women are a dime a dozen. You can marry any woman you want, so why must you make things difficult for your aunt? Besides, what's so good about Ery, anyway? Her upbringing, education... everything about her is terrible.”

Talia found Allie to be a disgrace and a lesser being, but at a time like that, the former had to mention the latter.

If I don't, my stubborn son will not relent.

Dylan, however, remained quiet.

The lights began dimming, and that meant that the play was about to begin. Talia shot a look at the stage and saw the host walking toward the center of the stage.

She was very restless, Talia turned her attention back to her son and said, “If you hadn't butted in on the matter, Ery would've been your aunt's daughter-in-law by now. Dylan, your aunt had already come and complained to your father and me a few times.”

Dylan finally reacted to that. He asked, “What did she say?”

“What else could she have said?” replied Talia. She couldn't control herself and was speaking so loudly that she was almost as loud as the host. “Your aunt said that she has always regarded Ery as her daughter-in-law, so she is upset about Ery suddenly becoming your wife. The two of you had just gotten married and haven't done anything... intimate yet, so why not just get a divorce now before things get out of control.”

Naturally, Dylan's aunt, the one Talia was referring to, was Allie.

Avery was sitting in the row behind them, so she was too worried about getting their attention that she didn't even have the guts to move a single muscle. Now that the lights had dimmed, she felt more relaxed.

Even though she was Dylan's wife, Avery was glad to hear her husband's parents telling him to get a divorce. Even she had to admit that she prayed that they would successfully convince him to dump her.

As for the parts about Allie's supposed concern... Well, Avery didn't believe that was true.

Allie doesn't care about me. If she had tried to get Dylan to divorce me, then she must have some other ulterior motive for doing so...

Avery didn't know what Allie was planning and what she would have to deal with after she got the divorce.

Maybe I should be more proactive and investigate the matter myself.

Only a small portion of the VIP section in the theater still had its lights on. Almost everyone was paying attention to the play.

Avery wasn't in the mood to watch the play, but Dylan, who was sitting in the front row, paid full attention.

Talia and Toby watched absentmindedly and would turn their gazes to their son every now and then.

It was as though they would figure out the perfect solution by looking at his face.

Avery sent Cayden a text to tell him that she needed to use the restroom.

After sending that text, she waited until she sensed the guy sitting beside her had read the text before standing up. She didn't want to disturb the other viewers, so she moved out of the way to go to the restroom.

Watching the play was simply too torturous for Avery. She wanted to focus on it and tell her kids when she got home, but Dylan and his parents were sitting right in front of them. The trio would see her sitting there with Cayden if they turned around.

The pressure made it impossible for her to sit still.

No one knew how much time had passed. Avery hadn't returned yet, and the play was progressing smoothly when Cayden heard Dylan ambush his parents with three simple words.

He said, “Ery is pregnant.”

Cayden's gaze remained on the stage, but he instinctively frowned.

Toby and Talia turned to their son in disbelief.

Dylan's words had knocked his parents senseless and shook them to their core.

The play was reaching its climax when Avery returned.

She was careful because she didn't want anyone, especially the viewers sitting in front of them, to notice her.

When she sat down, however, she noticed that Dylan and his parents had become eerily quiet. Cayden's gaze had also turned hostile when he looked at her.

The Novel will be updated daily. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
