With no other choice, Avery opened the door lightly.

Underneath the moonlight lay two sleeping kids in a small, narrow room while the two adults at the door wrapped their arms around each other immediately.

Even though Avery tried to retreat, the man behind her refused to let her go with his arms of steel.

“Don't act this way. The kids might see us.” Avery panted heavily in Cayden's embrace. She was worried and scared. The normal Cayden is already a ruthless beast. I can't imagine what will happen now that he is under the influence of alcohol... I hope he doesn't get carried away!

“If you don't feel like it, I won't force you to do it with me. If I hurt you, remember to tell me. Don't be shy.” Cayden's sexy lips found their way to her ear. He kissed her fair, warm skin while trying hard to control his urge.

Avery kept quiet as she let Cayden continue holding her. She was relieved after hearing his words. Other than that, Avery also found the situation amusing. When he is sober, he acts like a beast. How come he becomes rational after getting drunk?

After a long moment of being held by Cayden, she heard Rory turning around in her sleep and crying. “Mommy!” Without hesitation, she broke free from Cayden's embrace to check on Rory while he stood at the entrance.

Cayden stood by the door looking all prim and proper in his suit. He looked a little tired after drinking alcohol.

A smile appeared on his face when he saw Avery sitting next to Rory and patting her gently.

“Mommy is here, I am here...” Avery whispered into Rory's ears. By doing that, it felt as if Rory would be happy in a dream that she could sleep in a world where both her parents were with her.

Almost immediately, Rory stopped moving but her chubby finger held on to the corner of Avery's pajamas.

Seeing that, Avery dared not move as she feared that she might wake the child up.

Cayden removed his shoes at the door. Avery wiped the floor at least five times that it was spotless. The bed was not big enough for the three of them so they slept on the floor.

Fortunately, the room was on the second floor so it was not too cold.

Cayden went into the restroom, presumably washing up.

Avery thought for a while, and her reason kept telling her... You can't let this man stay. All the people living in the building are adults. They have been lucky as no one notices anything so far.

Before her divorce, she did not want to drag a nobleman like Cayden through the mud with her.

Rory was still holding onto the corner of Avery's pajamas, and she got tired after remaining in the same sitting posture for some time. Therefore, she decided to lie down next to Rory.

The sound of water flowing in the bathroom was rather soft as Cayden probably didn't want to wake the kids up. Even so, the sound messed up her mind.

Avery admitted that he was looking forward to a quick divorce from Dylan. Although there was not much difference in doing that, and Cayden did not care about it, it did not mean that he did not mind it. Essentially, the marriage certificates had become a huge barrier that had limited their liberty, so they could only see each other in secret.

Avery was still awake when Cayden walked out of the restroom. He questioned, “Where do I sleep?” The man then removed the luxurious suit he had on before throwing it to the floor mindlessly, mixing his clothes with the kids'.

Meanwhile, Avery, who was lying next to her kids, didn't dare to speak for the sound of her voice would wake Rory and Zachary up. And so Avery was stunned when Cayden lay on the floor next to her.

Cayden's warm body wrapped around her back as he used an arm to hold her down.

Avery wanted to turn her body toward him. She wanted to ask Cayden to return to Ackleton. However, Avery hesitated when she saw Rory's hand wrapped tightly around the edge of her pajamas. I don't know anything about taking care of kids. Besides, I feel guilty for not being there for my kids all these years.

Avery pampered her kids as a new mom who felt guilty and remorseful. Hence, she didn't want them to be disturbed in their sleep.

Meanwhile, Cayden's hand had reached the waistband of her pants. He gently reached in, using his rough, dry hands to caress her skin. On the other hand, Rory's grip on the corner of Avery's pajamas stopped the drunk Cayden in his tracks.

Avery leaned in toward Rory as she smiled. You are protecting Mommy even when you are asleep.

“What's going on?” Cayden frowned. He stood up with a darkened face, wanting to check out Avery's and Rory's situation.
