Xenia was not boasting. Aside from going against Weston and losing spectacularly several times, she almost never lost a case against other attorneys.

“I remember you were always at the top of law class back then, old friend,” Dylan teased upon hearing Xenia's words, “with Weston always in second place. I was under the impression that you are better than him. Why don't you dare face him now?”

Xenia's sharp tongue was still fresh in the memories of many of their classmates during the campus legal debate contest when they were in school together in the past.

Although Weston was also very good, he tended to be inferior to Xenia and was always one step behind.

Dylan's words made Xenia's cold expression falter for a moment, but she quickly recovered her composure.

In reality, Weston was the one who let her beat him during school because he knew how competitive she was and would fall into a prolonged depression even if she ranked second in her grade.

She did not know it until she encountered various setbacks and difficulties at work that she realized that he had always been taking care of her.

However, he could not hide the fact that he had hurt her deeply, no matter how good he was. At the thought of him and another woman...

Xenia's face was full of hatred.

Weston will be my enemy for the rest of my life. He will never know peace as long as I don't.

Xenia quickly composed herself and said plainly, “School is different from the real world, after all. What I learned before was all theory. I realized that ideals and reality are different only after my career began. Don't you know this better than anyone, old friend?”

Dylan peeled an orange and handed it to Xenia.

At her indifferent look, he swallowed a piece of orange himself. “I don't care about your history with Weston or how you do it, I want you to win this lawsuit! Either you beat Weston in court or have him give up being Avery's attorney.”

Dylan knew that the possibility of the second method was close to nil.

As the exclusive lawyer of Trident Group, he listened to Cayden, who was determined to break up Dylan's marriage with Avery. Thus, it would be impossible for Weston to back out.

Xenia sneered, and a strange arc spread from the corner of her lips. “Don't worry. I will win this by any means necessary. Just wait a while, and I will deliver the outcome you await.”

Dylan smiled at Xenia's confident and determined expression.

I'm looking forward to the exciting opening of the divorce case.

Wisteria, who was far away in the Western Epea branch to deal with the follow-up incident of Regal Garden, was smoking a cigarette when she immediately clicked on the link of “The Rich's Scandal” sent to her by her department head and watched it intently.

Then, she heard from the department head about the matter between Avery and Cayden. It seemed that there was some misunderstanding between them, which was the cause of the strained relationship between the two.

Wisteria smiled as she was rather satisfied.

It seems that my prior efforts have not been in vain. Any woman who sees another woman exiting her man's car could not help but get suspicious.

Furthermore, she also answered Cayden's call.

Avery's doubts about Mr. Moore will definitely deepen. Also, the inexplicable appearance of this trending post has been very helpful. Though Cayden insists on being with Avery in spite of everybody's disapproval, the Moore family will never approve of a widely-scorned divorcée.

Wisteria felt a little more at ease at that thought.

She planned to clean things up as quickly as possible before rushing back to Ackleton.

Having admired and waited for Cayden for so many years, she did not want to wait any longer.

He is mine. Nobody can take him away!

When he picked her up from Gold Emerald Hotel, Xavier was shocked by Nina's haggard countenance and how she was scantily dressed and disheveled.

It had only been a few days since he saw her, and the cheerful girl who loved to laugh who he knew was gone. Her eyes, which crinkled into crescents when she smiled, looked dead.

Her neck was covered with dense bruises and purple marks—clear signs of abuse.

Xavier was a worldly person. He naturally understood what the marks were, and his heart twinged. Mr. Moore told Xander to have his brother release her. Though Aaron did do as told, he had also ruined her.

A sigh emanated from the depths of Xavier's nostrils at the sight of Nina looking so frail that she seemed like she was going to fall over any moment. She stood like a marionette without its strings.

He knew Avery and Nina were very close. Ms. Rumpley would be so sad to know that her friend had ended up like this because of her.

Xavier noticed Nina shivering, so he removed his coat to drape around her.

“I'll take you to the mall to buy some clothes, Ms. Richter. If you were to go back like this, it would ...”

Not look good. Xavier did not finish his sentence.
