It was the first time Xander and Jacob met Avery in person.

She had fair skin, delicate facial features, and most uniquely her feminine and elegant demeanor.

The maternal allure she exuded as she patiently comforted the naughty Seamus charmed anyone who laid their eyes on her.

Ever since Avery appeared, Cayden's passionate gaze hadn't left her pretty face, which sparked a flame of envy in Nicole's heart.

“Daddy—” As Seamus held Avery's hand, he approached Jacob and hugged the man's calf. Then, the boy giddily introduced Avery to him. “Daddy, I found this pretty lady on the terrace. She's Zachary's and Rory's mommy. She's so nice. Can you find me a mommy as gentle as her, Daddy?”

Tenderly, Jacob pulled Seamus' ear and pretended to be angry. “I've found you many mommies in the past, but you're the one who chased them away with your pranks, brat. Now you're asking me for a mommy again? Don't you think you need to be taught a lesson?”

The boy pouted, covered his eyes, and pretended to cry. “Those women smelled nasty and had lots of makeup on, Daddy. They don't have Ms. Ery's fragrant scent. Besides, they're all evil witches. When you're around, they'll treat me nicely. But when you're gone, they abuse me! I'm so pitiful... My daddy doesn't love me, and I don't have a mommy to love me. I'm a sprout that no one wants...”

Avery's maternal sympathy arose when she saw a cute child crying his heart out.

She promptly hugged him up and consoled him, “Don't cry, Seamus. Rory's the same age as you, but she rarely cries nowadays.”

“I wish you were my mommy, Ms. Ery...” As Seamus sobbed, he wrapped his arms around her neck. An aggrieved expression was set on his face as his eyes turned reddish.

However, there wasn't even a single drop of tears in the boy's eyes.

Jacob wasn't sure if he should laugh or cry. What a cheeky brat! Even though he looks like he's sobbing, I know he's just faking it, like the type of rainstorm with plenty of thunder but barely any rain. I bet only a woman as pure as Avery would fall for his trick.

“I don't want to stay with Daddy anymore, Ms. Ery. He's a baddie! Hmph! I like you a lot, Ms. Ery. Can you take me out to play?” With pitiful puppy eyes, Seamus gazed at Avery.

Her heart was already melted by the adorable and good-looking Seamus, so, of course, she agreed to his request. “I'll take him out for a stroll, Cayden. When you're about to leave, text me, okay?”

Cayden held her hand and replied, “Sure. Give me a call if anything happens.”

Then he planted a gentle kiss on her lips in front of everyone.

While the hotel was huge, there were plenty of hidden security cameras around the place. Additionally, everyone who attended the event was someone of status. Thus, the security measures were of a higher standard. Therefore, he found no reason to be worried about Avery and Seamus' safety.

I don't know what to say about this man. There are so many people and a child here, yet he ignored all that and publicly displayed his affection for me in front of them. Still, that does give me a fuzzy feeling. Avery's face was flushed. “I know.”

“I'm a regular at this hotel, Ms. Rumpley, so I'm more familiar with the environment. I can accompany you two for a stroll,” Nicole offered passionately, even though she was feeling bitter inside.

Ever since Claire had a conversation with Avery, the latter had been on guard against Nicole, who was coveting her man.

Just as she wondered how she should turn down Nicole's “offer,” Seamus grinned and said, “I don't want such an ugly hag to accompany us. Ms. Ery and I don't need a third wheel.”

Nicole almost fainted from anger when she heard that. How dare this brat call me an ugly hag! Only those coarse-looking and aging commoners deserve that name! I'm still young and beautiful! I don't look like a hag!

As well-mannered as she was, she couldn't hide her slight frown in response to his comment.

Meanwhile, Avery gently knocked on Seamus' head and defused the situation. “You mustn't treat another person rudely, Seamus. It's a sign of poor upbringing. You're a big boy, so you need to treat others with respect, especially women. You have to learn how to be a young gentleman, got it?”

Seamus nodded obediently before making a funny face at Avery. “I get it, Ms. Ery. I won't behave that rudely again.”

Jacob's eyes almost popped out of his skull when he saw that. Is this well-behaved and adorable child really the little devil who refuses to compromise under any circumstances who I know? What a surprise!

After that conversation ended, Avery brought Seamus to the children's playground in the hotel. It had a typical eye-pleasing design in terms of both its structure and its color.

The playground had tons of equipment in it, including a large slide, a jungle gym, a maze, a merry-go-round, a bubble house, and many more. Everything inside was state-of-the-art design.

All the kids inside were the children of the guests. Thus, there weren't too many of them playing inside the playground at the moment.

As Seamus had the company of a pretty and gentle lady, he had an extremely great time in the playground.

He created countless bubbles together with Avery in the bubble house. Their laughter was even heard from far away.

Nicole and Roderick stood next to the fairytale-inspired wooden house as they observed Avery and Seamus.

Upon noticing his sexual interest in Avery, Nicole suppressed her disgust and asked, “You find her pure and pretty, right? How about I help you get her?”

She suddenly changed her plan.

While she believed she could get Cayden to warm up and accept her over time, she realized she couldn't stomach Avery's presence at all.

Cayden's passionate love for Avery only made Nicole jealous and want her doom.

Roderick glanced at Avery. I must admit, her smile is beautiful. Additionally, her purity seems to be genuine, so much so that I can't help but think of doing dirty things with her. However, what I'm more interested in right now is Nicole. What a two-faced woman she is. Despite her angelic demeanor, she's as venomous as a scorpion inside. I want to know what it's like to dominate a delicate, arrogant, and eminent woman like her.

“That's right. I am interested in her. However, all I want is you right now!” A sinister grin formed on his face.

Upon seeing his reaction, Nicole's heart skipped a beat as she stepped backward defensively. “You... What are you trying to do? If you do anything inappropriate to me, I'll make sure you'll regret it for life!”

To her surprise, Roderick laughed maliciously.

With an eager tone, he uttered, “I like it when you act that way. Come on, tell me how you'll make me feel regretful. Scream! Let everyone see the true face of the daughter of the Lambert family!”

Then, he pulled her into his arms.

Nicole struggled in his embrace, but she was too weak. There was no way she could win against a special forces soldier like him.

Irritated by Nicole's attempt to escape, Roderick suddenly covered his mouth and nose before putting an unplugged plastic tube underneath Nicole's nose.

She didn't expect him to do that, so she unintentionally took in several deep breaths.
