There was a t-shaped stage on the wide field. It was probably constructed for a school event.

However, since it was almost midnight, there were no students on the field, only a thick layer of snow gently covering the entire world.

As Cayden advanced forward while holding Avery's hand, they respectively left a trail of deep and shallow footprints behind.

He lifted her up to the stage before getting on it himself.

Then he pulled out the fireworks he bought from the store, squatted down, and lit them with his match.

Standing next to Cayden, Avery watched the fuse be lit and heard it hissing as it burned.

Then, a beautiful firework was seen exploding in the sky. It formed the shape of a flower that expanded over time.

In the end, it transformed into a marvelous, towering tree of colorful fire.

The dark sky was instantly illuminated with a large spectrum of colors.

Then, as the tree of colorful fire exploded in midair, the specks of fire fell back to the earth like a vibrant meteor shower.

Avery was a little blinded by the bright flames, which prompted Cayden to pull her back a few steps.

The powerful flame blossomed in the snowy night, illuminating them and half the dark sky.

It brought joy to Avery.

She didn't expect such cheap fireworks would create stunning scenery.

“Thank you. I'll remember this scene forever. From here on out, this will be a memory shared between us.” Upon rubbing her cold nose, she stood on her toes and gently placed her hands around Cayden's neck.

Like a well-mannered kitty, Avery rubbed her face against his neck.

Despite the cold, she felt warm because of his company. Even the snow didn't feel icy to her.

“I'm glad that you're happy. Even if you want the stars in the sky one day, I'll find a way to pluck them down for you.” He kissed her lips as affectionately as he always was.

Standing in the snow, he looked handsome, graceful, and as though the most brilliant light in the world was gathered in his eyes.

When Cayden smiled fondly at Avery, it was as if the snowflakes came to life as they kept dancing on his eyebrows and lips.

At that moment, he appeared as though he was an immortal shrouded in a frigid aura. A sense of warmth and elegance smashed straight into her chest, making her feel utterly captivated by him.

Just as they were gazing at each other with infatuation, an angry roar was suddenly heard from the direction of the security booth.

The security guard in a military green outfit approached them with a torchlight.

Then, he admonished sternly, “Hey, what are you two doing here in the middle of the night? Don't you know it's forbidden to play with fireworks on school grounds? What class are you two from?”

“Crap, we're discovered!” Avery panicked a little.

“No need to be afraid. Hold my hand, and we'll escape together!” Cayden took her soft hand and sprinted across the field with her as the fireworks still lingered in the air.

Soon, they reached the streets outside.

Two of them panted as they scampered away like children, leaving the security guard in the dust.

When they arrived at the wide road a hundred meters away from the high school, they hid behind a large, tall tree.

Staring at Avery tenderly, Cayden assured, “No need to be afraid. We'll just pretend to be a couple on a nightly jog. The guard can't do anything to us.”

“That was... tiring. But it was so fun!” That run made her sweat a lot.

Her chest was still in pain from the intense dash, but she thought it was worth it.

Cayden gripped Avery's hand with his warm, mighty palm, affirming her that he would never leave her or let her go.

Turning her head back, she could still see the fireworks they had set off earlier.

The brilliant tree of fire was still glowing.

Embers of the vanishing firework descended from the air like meteors, blinking in the night sky as they did. It was so beautiful that one could hardly move their eyes away from the scenery.

When the security guard realized the couple was gone, he grumbled with annoyance as he returned to his post.

“It's over now.” Cayden pulled Avery out of the shade of the tree.

As they watched the fireworks gradually disappear into the darkness, they held hands and strolled in the snow.

At a wall next to the road stood a tall but thin snow-covered figure.

Avery initially thought it was just some guy standing against the wall.

When she got closer, however, she realized it was a couple hugging each other.

They appeared to be very young, so it was likely they were students of the nearby university. The couple seemed fairly awkward. The girl was dainty and crying unceasingly in the boy's embrace. Occasionally, she would swing her fists and hit him.

On the other hand, the boy was patiently and gently coaxing her. As he allowed her to keep hitting him, he continued to apologize to her.

A romantic relationship that took place during one's youth was the most genuine and pure. Even the squabbles of a couple at that age seemed so pleasant.

Avery and Cayden smiled meaningfully as they tightened their grips.

They were no longer young, but they had experienced the many twists and turns of life. That was why they understood they should be more trusting and less demanding in a relationship. Only then would they be able to keep holding on to the miracle known as happiness.

“I feel like I've become much younger ever since I met you, Avery,” Cayden uttered as he crossed his fingers with Avery's.

His forehead was touching hers as they kept each other heated with their body warmth.

“That's not right. You are young. The father of my two children is still a handsome man.” She chuckled and gently squeezed his hand. “I'm getting a little tired of walking now...”

“I'll piggyback you.” Without hesitation, Cayden kneeled and gestured for her to lie on his back.

Avery climbed onto his back and looked around at the snowy scenery.
