It didn't take long for Sid to agree to Cayden's request.

After all, he was desperately in need of money.

Although he had acquired much wealth through dubious means, he was also a mindless spendthrift. Not only had he squandered off all his earnings, but he had also gotten into debt.

Unable to hide his curiosity, he asked, “Thank you for placing your trust in me, Mr. Moore. But aren't you worried I might betray your trust and run away with your company's funds? After all, I've done that to other people before.”

A confident and calm smile appeared on Cayden's face as he replied, “You can always try... if you think you can get away with that.”

Although he spoke lightheartedly as if it was meant to be a jest, his eyes bore into Sid's eyes, leaving Sid without a doubt that nothing could escape his scrutiny.

That seemingly gentle gaze made Sid shudder. He suddenly recalled the information he had gathered previously when he investigated Cayden.

To the casual observers, Cayden appeared warm and friendly, with a ready smile for everyone. His opponents were often misled by that affable appearance and let their guards down. They would only belatedly realize how ruthless and shrewd Cayden was after they were mercilessly defeated.

Within a few years, Cayden had turned a company that was about to collapse around and made it into an internationally renowned one. It would be rather impossible to achieve such a feat without any covert and manipulative means.

A serious look replaced the earlier cheeky expression on Sid's face.

He raised his glass to Cayden and proposed a toast, saying, “Here's to our collaboration, Mr. Moore!”

“To our success!” Cayden returned.

Cayden knew if he managed to get Sid under his control, that man would be a useful pawn and could contribute to the success of his business.

However, it was also a double-edged sword decision to partner with Sid. He was an arrogant madcap who could get out of control and become a liability instead.

But it was a risk Cayden was willing to take. He was confident in his own judgment and also believed he had Lady Luck on his side.

When Cayden got back to his hotel room, he found Avery curled up on the couch, reading a magazine.

Her eyes were lowered, focused on the magazine, and her petite frame was relaxed and still. It was a peaceful and serene sight.

Avery hadn't noticed a rose petal had landed on her hair. That bold dash of red added an element of seduction to the air of innocence she exuded.

Cayden had met numerous women more beautiful and sophisticated than Avery, but only Avery could give him that sense of peace and calm.

He went over to sit on the couch before lifting her onto his lap while Avery was still engrossed in her reading. Smilingly, he asked, “What is so fascinating that you'd be so engrossed?”

“Oh... Has your friend left?” Avery made herself comfortable in his arms promptly.

“Yup, he's gone. We'll stay here and get some rest before we head back to Ackleton. Are you hungry? Should I get you some food?” Cayden intimately interlocked his fingers with hers as he leaned forward to rest his forehead against hers.

He knew she had a ravenous appetite after becoming pregnant and would frequently suffer from hunger pangs.

Avery pointed to the leftover tiramisu and milkshake on the table and said, “It's okay. I had quite a fair bit of dessert just now. Oh, by the way, I was reading about palm reading just now. Give me your hand, Cayden.”

With that, she grabbed his hand and started examining his palm lines.

His hand was smooth, fair but strong, like ivory.

The head line and money line on his hand were long and clear, stretching across almost his whole palm.

Avery was impressed. “Your heart, money, and head lines are all long and clear! I've never seen anything like this before! Overall, you'll have a pretty smooth and stable life. You can overcome any obstacles that hinder your path. Hmmm... let me take a good look at your heart line. It extends almost to your index finger, so that shows you are an honorable and devoted lover. The line is a little frayed, though, so you're probably a magnet of women. All in all, not too bad!” she declared.

Yvonne, Nicole, Wisteria... What kind of magnetism is that? Many names came to her mind as she analyzed his heart line, giving her a headache.

Cayden noticed the slight souring of her mood and assured her with a smile, “It's not a problem for someone like me who has good self-control. Moreover, how can those childish women compare to my dearest Honey? With you by my side, I'm complete.”

Avery's heart melted when she heard those sweet words, but she blushingly protested, “Wait a minute. Who's your Honey? We're not married yet, so I'm still not yours...”

As they were immersed in their intimate moment, neither of them noticed that Cayden's heart line actually merged into his life line in the middle, and together, they extended to the edge of his palm.
