Chapter 513 Deal With Nicole

Seamus felt frustrated because of the presence of Zachary, the overprotective brother.

Whenever he wanted to play with Rory or bully her, her annoying brother, Zachary, would show up and teach him a lesson.

Seamus had a plan. Once Ms. Quigley gives birth, I'll have a beautiful little sister. Then, I'll let her marry Zachary. If Zachary bullies me again, I'll ask my little sister to avenge me. I'm just so clever!

“How do you know Ms. Quigley's baby is a girl? What if it's a boy?” Avery couldn't help but laugh. This little boy is so interesting. Not only does he want to marry my daughter, but he has also planned my son's marriage.

“That won't happen. Daddy told me the baby would be a girl, so it must be a girl. I like having a little sister, and I don't want a little brother.”

As he spoke, Seamus pecked Stephanie on her cheek. “Ms. Quigley, you'll give birth to a beautiful little sister, right?”

Stephanie's charming eyes brimmed with adoration. “Of course. I'll give birth to a baby girl so you can have a little sister.”

Looking at their harmonious interaction, Avery was slightly surprised. Rumor has it the Yankovich family's cheeky little scion has a terrible temper and has driven away countless socialites Jacob brought home. Yet, he's getting along so well with Stephanie?

Subsequently, Avery scrutinized them and suddenly noticed something shocking. Seamus' eyes greatly resembled Stephanie's. Still, how could two people with no blood relation have almost identical eyes?

Instantly, daring speculation surfaced in her mind. Did Jacob forcibly keep Stephanie by his side because she looks like Seamus' birth mother? It's just like the story of one of those melodramatic novels where the woman who the male lead falls deeply in love with dies and leaves behind their child. Then, he suddenly finds a substitute who shares the appearance of the love of his life one day and does everything in his power to forcefully make the girl stay by his side regardless of her will.

Avery's imagination ran wild. Immediately afterward, she began to gaze at Stephanie with a sympathetic look.

“M-Ms. Rumpley?” The peculiar expression in Avery's eyes unsettled Stephanie. “Why are you staring at me like that?”

Avery held Stephanie's hands, which were soft but surprisingly cold. “It's nothing. Stephanie, since we're considered friends now, you don't have to be so formal with me, addressing me as Ms. Rumpley. You can call me Ery. Why are your hands so cold? You must take better care of your health. Otherwise, your baby may also be weak later on.”

Stephanie beamed at her, revealing her two dimples. “Okay. Thank you. I'll be mindful of that. By the way, I've been meaning to apologize to you after my cat scratched you the other day, but I never got the chance to do so. I didn't know why my cat went crazy, either. It has always been well-behaved and never hurt anyone before.”

Avery marveled once again. This girl is indeed a beauty. Her warm and gentle smile, laced with a hint of diffidence, is as gorgeous as a blossoming gardenia, prompting those to have seen her smile to feel that the world is pure and wonderful. No wonder Jacob wants to keep her by his side!

“It's all right. That incident occurred so long ago, and my wound has already recovered. Is your cat okay? Are you still working at Azure Royal?” Avery had forgotten some details of what happened that day.

However, she vividly remembered the scene of Stephanie crying with the dying cat in her arms while she pleaded with Xander. That cat must mean something to her. Otherwise, she wouldn't have revealed such a desperate and helpless expression when looking at the dying cat.

Stephanie uttered gratefully, “Yes. Milo has fully recovered and is very healthy now. That cat was a gift from a very good friend, so I regard the cat with great importance. If it weren't for your leniency, Milo wouldn't have survived. I resigned from Azure Royal a few months ago. Now, I stay in the Yankovich residence to take care of Seamus and the unborn baby...”

Stephanie's last two words were spoken with a hint of mockery as if she was enduring some kind of humiliation or pain.

“Stephanie, don't overthink for now and focus on delivering the baby. After all, the baby is innocent. Life is full of hardships, but you will eventually attain what you desire.” Avery didn't feel it was appropriate for her to pry too much into other people's private matters. While she wanted to comfort Stephanie further, she didn't know how to express her concerns.

Stephanie seemed too fragile. Moreover, Avery had a strange intuition that even offering consolation to Stephanie was a form of indescribable torment to her.

“Attain what we desire? Perhaps that's true for others, but it's no longer possible for me.” Stephanie let out a self-deprecating chuckle.

Suddenly, she recalled the familiar woman she met at Azure Royal at that time and changed the topic, moving on from the painful subject. “Ary, do you know Nicole?”
