Suzanna returned to the secretary's office and saw everyone focusing on their work.

She slapped the table loudly, drawing the attention of the other secretaries before saying exaggeratedly, “Hey, I've got some juicy gossip for you all. I just saw the acting CEO reprimanding Ms. Summers. She even said that Ms. Summers' bidding proposal was imperfect. How ridiculous! Everyone in our company is impressed by Ms. Summers' work capabilities, yet a newbie like her dared to order Ms. Summers around. My goodness, she's putting on such a show!”

Upon hearing Suzanna, the other two secretaries couldn't help but cover their mouths and giggle secretly.

Only Tina continued to face her computer and work diligently.

One of the secretaries, Avril, yawned and casually took out her powder puff, touching up her makeup. She then interjected, “Does she really think that she's the CEO just because she's in that seat? Is that a position she can obtain so easily?”

“Who knows? I do see her signing quite a number of documents and contracts, and she seems to be seriously reviewing the bids. However, I think she's just putting on an act.”

The other secretary who was named Bianca adjusted her glasses and speculated, “Since Mr. Moore is such an iconic figure, his wife must be a woman of substance. Who in a wealthy family would marry a brainless woman? Besides, I've noticed that she has a talent for architectural design. So, she must be quite competent in business as well. I think she might be a capable woman.”

Suzanna rolled her eyes at Bianca. “Oh, come on! With that fussy demeanor of hers, you think she's capable? You guys have no idea. There were times when I went to the CEO's office and saw her sitting on Mr. Moore's lap, showing her skin and seducing him while he was working. Mr. Moore is a reserved man. How could he have fallen for such a vulgar and scheming woman?”

Then, Suzanna sneakily looked around to make sure no one was coming in. Lowering her voice, she went on, “I heard that Mr. Moore left ninety percent of his wealth to that woman. Normally, he should have left most of his wealth to his mother or children, right? What do you think? Could that woman have secretly changed his will?”

“Oh my gosh!” Avril's mouth fell open. “That is too shocking. If she really did change Mr. Moore's will, then she's incredibly cunning. I can't believe this!”

On the other hand, Bianca seemed a bit skeptical. “I don't think she could have done that. Is it that easy to change a will? Besides, she's carrying Mr. Moore's child, and she's about to give birth at any moment now.”

Suzanna continued to gossip, “We never know. Maybe Mr. Moore's death is even related to her!”

Tina, who had been silent all along, suddenly rapped her pen heavily on the desk. With a scowl, she reminded the other secretaries, “We're at work right now. Do you guys have that much free time? I'm sure you all know the consequences if the acting CEO finds out you're talking about her behind her back. It seems like she assigned you guys too little work.”

Tina often interacted with Avery. In her opinion, Avery was gentle, polite, understanding, and incredibly easy to get along with.

She was nothing like the scheming woman they described her to be.

As Tina couldn't stand the way the ladies were criticizing Avery, she spoke up.

Not daring to talk back, Avril and Bianca lowered their heads. In an instant, the office regained its tranquility.

Although they were all secretaries of the same rank, Tina stood out due to her versatile skills and superior capabilities. As a result, she was more favored by the CEO, and her words carried significant weight.

Only Suzanna glanced at Tina disdainfully. What a brown-noser. Does she think she can get a promotion by fawning over Avery? She can dream on! I'd be grateful if the company doesn't go under due to that woman's meddling.

Meanwhile, Wisteria stepped out of the CEO's office, her face clouded with gloom. I can't believe Avery thinks my bidding proposal is imperfect.

No one had ever dared to criticize Wisteria like that, not even Cayden, who would only offer her suggestions.

Haha! She even boasted that she'll secure the land in Chimera Lake. I'll watch and see how she'll go against that ferocious Xenos Group. She's going to be so humiliated!

At ten o'clock, Trident Group's shareholders' meeting officially commenced.

Xavier had already announced Cayden's will to the board of directors in advance; the news of Avery taking over as the acting CEO was undoubtedly a bolt from the blue that caught certain veterans seeking to take power off guard.

Today was Avery's first day in office as the acting CEO, and all the shareholders had come. Everyone had been waiting in the conference room since early morning.

The atmosphere in the conference room was solemn and heavy as the shareholders engaged in a flurry of discussions, whispering to each other.

Avery intentionally arrived a few minutes late. By the time she walked in, all members of the board of directors were present.



At the sight of the heavily-pregnant Avery walking in and taking the seat at the head of the table, many people showed expressions of disdain.

Jasper was the first to snort coldly, remarking in a sarcastic tone, “Mrs. Moore, everyone has been waiting for you. Don't you have any sense of time? How will you be able to lead Trident Group if you're like this? Maybe you should go home and nurse your child instead!”

No sooner had he finished speaking than he was met with a roar of laughter from the crowd. Those who were in cahoots with Jasper began to chatter away.
