Chapter 711 Emotional Damage

On the other end of the couch sat Taron. To Avery's surprise, Xander was also present.

Taron was dressed in a black shirt and deep blue jeans. Gone was the domineering air he had when dressed formally. Instead, he seemed more like a gentle and refined gentleman.

Xander still had skin as white as snow and a bewitchingly handsome face. He was wearing a white shirt, which accentuated his already fair complexion, making it appear even more like a white gem.

Upon seeing Avery, he smiled and greeted her, “Avery, it's been a while.”

With a polite smile, Avery turned to him and said, “Mr. Gibson, you've come to Mocset too?”

Her incredibly radiant and gentle smile momentarily caused the two present men to lose their composure.

In the city of Mocset, where beautiful women abound, Avery's appearance might not be the most outstanding, but it was undoubtedly excellent. Although she didn't possess the striking beauty of Eastern Epean women, she carried a unique Aplothian beauty.

Avery had a very gentle face, one that was liked by both men and women. There was no hint of aggression in her features, making her appear extremely well-behaved.

Her eyes were deep and double-lidded, large and round; her pupils were black and bright, like kernels. When they looked at you, it seemed as if they could burst forth with countless dazzling stars.

Her laughter was incredibly sweet, a sound that could nourish one's soul and soften even the coldest of hearts. It was a sight that every man found endearing.

Cayden lounged lazily on the couch. When he saw Avery flashing a smile at his two friends, his handsome face instantly turned somewhat gloomy.

He despised the way his woman sweetly smiled at others, even if those two were his good buddies.

“Come over!” He beckoned to Avery, signaling her to come closer.

Avery politely nodded at Taron, then headed toward Cayden.

Just as she approached Cayden, he pulled her toward him, making her sit directly on his lap.

Then, he lifted her delicate, petite chin and gently placed a kiss on her lips. “Has that little brat been pacified?”

Taron and Xander were speechless.

Jealousy and hatred filled their eyes as they were ignored. The duo didn't enjoy watching the couple showing intimacy before them.

As there were still people around, Avery felt a bit embarrassed. She whispered in Cayden's ear, “Cal is still a bit temperamental... There are people here, you shouldn't behave like this...”

“Who cares about them? They're both single and have no clue about the fun of flirting between couples,” Cayden said, completely disregarding his friend's gaze.

He held Avery as if he were holding his most beloved treasure, happiness flickering in his narrow eyes.

That remark emotionally wounded the single men in the room.

They continued to grit their teeth.

Originally, the three of them were discussing serious matters, but the couple kept showing off their affection. Additionally, Cayden kept acting smugly in front of them. They really wanted to punch his annoyingly smug face.

After a moment of intimate interaction with Avery, as if no one else was around, Cayden spoke up. “Let's continue with what we were discussing earlier.”

They were originally discussing how to deal with Dark River when, unexpectedly, Avery appeared.

After a brief moment of tenderness, Cayden naturally didn't forget his main task. Having stayed in Dark River for so long, he couldn't wait to destroy that inhumane purgatory on Earth.

Although he managed to escape from that prison, many innocent lives were still lost there.

Even more horrifying was that countless teenagers were transported to Eerie Island for demonic training every year. However, the chances of survival were less than one percent, which shows how inhumane that organization was.

Xander sat on the couch, his legs crossed.

He glanced at Avery, who was nestled on Cayden's lap. His fair fingers stroked his own chin. “Cayden, is it appropriate for her to hear all this?”

In his eyes, Avery was undoubtedly a delicate little woman. Despite her business acumen, which could indeed rival that of Cayden, she was still a gentle and delicate lady.

Nicole was the kind of woman who would jump at the sight of a mouse. He thought such gruesome and dark matters were unsuitable for Avery to hear. He was worried it would leave a psychological scar on her.

Avery bit her lip, then resolutely spoke to Cayden. “It's okay. I want to listen. I want to know more about what exactly happened to you during these past two years.”
