Chapter 731 Cayden Is A Legend

Gazing at Cal's face, so similar to Cayden's, Avery felt her breath catch, and an indescribable ache gripped her heart.

That pain rapidly escalated, making it hard for her to even breathe properly.

Sorrow swept through her chest without restraint...

Cayden had promised her he would return safely. But now, it seemed he had broken that promise.

Seeing Avery's mournful expression, sensitive little Cal knew something was wrong.

He didn't act as mischievously as before. Instead, he handed her a tissue and said gently, “Mommy, you're crying. Let me wipe your tears away.”

With all his might, the little guy tiptoed and tried to wipe away her tears.

But he was too small, and his short legs couldn't reach her.

Somewhat disheartened, he tugged on Avery's clothes and asked in a childish tone, “Mommy, what's wrong? Don't ignore me. Did I do something wrong? I won't make you angry again. Mommy, can you forgive me?”

The little boy, barely half his mother's height, thought he had caused her sorrow.

Though unaware of what he had done wrong, he tried to apologize to his mom in his own way.

Avery's gaze was locked on her son's face, staring in a dazed and blank way at him. It was as if through him, she was looking at the man she loved.

Even when her phone rang in her pocket, she didn't hear it. She remained expressionless, seemingly devoid of soul.

Avery listened to her phone ringing as if her soul had been drained, leaving her in a daze.

Cal shook her arm, lifting his handsome yet childish face and reminding her, “Mommy, your phone's ringing. Is it Daddy calling?”

Still unmoving, Avery forced a bitter smile.

Her son was still too young, oblivious to the fact that his father's plane had encountered an accident. There was no way to contact him now, so how could he be calling?

Cal saw that Avery remained silent, but her phone continuously rang...

Cal stretched out his chubby little hand, retrieved the phone from her pocket, and hit the answer button, asking excitedly, “Hello, Daddy, is that you?”

A low, magnetic, and sexy voice came through the phone. “Cal, it's me. Let your mommy take the call…”

Cal was about to hand the phone to Avery but realized his small hand was empty as the phone changed hands.

Avery held the phone, her face beaming with excitement as she looked at the blinking “Hubby” on her screen.

She burst out with rapid questions at the caller with a tirade of emotions in her voice. “Cayden, is that you? Is it really you? Where are you now? I saw on the news that your flight had an accident and lost contact over Mount Chueles! You have no idea how scared I've been. What's going on?”

Cal stared, mouth agape, at his mom's excited expression, feeling rather dejected.

Humph, Mommy is so annoying. Every time something happened with Daddy, she always left me out of it. Annoying.

Cayden's voice, warm and soothing, came through. “Avery, it's me. The flight did have a minor mishap. The plane experienced some trouble, and it nearly crashed. But luckily, I'm quite familiar with these types of aircraft, so I managed to control the plane before it crashed. We landed at Xandenia Airport near Mount Chueles. I'm in the airport lounge now. I knew you'd be worried, so I called to let you know.”

...

Xandenia Airport VIP Lounge.

Cayden comforted Avery with gentle words, purposefully not mentioning the hijacking incident on the plane.

Avery wasn't very resilient in the face of such things.

He was afraid that if he told her everything, she'd worry even more. So, he kept it light.

However, he was the only one who knew just how dangerous the situation on the plane had been.

At the time, the hijackers had used electromagnetic interference devices on the plane, causing the compasses to go haywire and malfunction. The plane couldn't establish its direction.

Suddenly, the plane had tilted at a 45-degree angle, executing a shocking aerial drift.

Although the passengers had been securely fastened with their seatbelts, the sensation was still more harrowing than a roller coaster ride.

After the nine-eleven terrorist attacks, cockpit doors on all commercial aircraft had been reinforced, and only the captain knew the access code.

However, during the struggle with the hijacker, both the captain and the hijacker were shot in the heart, leaving the captain dead.

There were bullet marks on the cockpit's engine control system, damaging the engine's gears.

The cockpit had been battered with hard objects, but luckily, the white paint had only peeled off, revealing only superficial damage to the aluminum alloy and synthetic nanofiber material underneath.

Thankfully, the training he'd been subjected to during his time on Eerie Island had equipped him with the skills needed to handle such challenging situations. This had kept him from panicking in the face of danger.

Though the process of regaining control of the plane had been arduous, Cayden had ultimately succeeded.

He had managed to safely land the plane at Xandenia Airport.

After the incident, both the International Chanaean Southern Airline and the First Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Organization rushed to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
