Thalassa had given Kris that reply out of impulse, but once at left her mouth, she wasn’t willing to take it back. She’d wanted to hurt him, and judging from the forlorn lock in his eyes, she’d achieved just that.
Kris felt like a knife had been shoved into his chest as he finally stopped pinning her to the wall and stepped back.
“I see,” he said slowly, the pain weaving through every syllable and his voice. “If you knew the baby wasn’t mine, then why did you try to use it to stop me from divorcing you?”
