Chapter 60

Thalassa felt shock ripple through her as she stared at the picture on the phone screen. It was a picture of a woman who looked like her, sitting naked on top of another man, and they appeared to be having sex.

Yes, a woman who looked like her, because there was no way in hell the woman in the photo was her, even though the woman had the same hairstyle she’d had four years ago

Kris flipped to another photo, then another, then another. Thalassa could only stare at the screen in shock. There were five photos in total, and they all seemed to have been taken from a hidden spot.

“What happened now? Cat got your tongue?” Kris questioned. “You can’t deny it any longer, can you?”

“Those photos are fake!” Thalassa hissed, her voice trembling with a mix of disbelief and fury. “I don’t know that man, and I definitely didn’t sleep with anyone the night before our wedding!”

“I had them all verified myself!” Kris shot back. “Do you know how badly I wanted it all to be a lie or a mistake? I refused to believe it when they were shown to me. I had it verified not only by one or two, but by three top professionals. Do you know what it did to me when they all told me the same thing–that the photos were real?”

His expression softened with sadness as his voice dropped. ‘It broke me.”

Though he’d still had those pictures on his phone all this time, he hadn’t looked at them in such a long time. Seeing them again today felt like scabs being ripped off old wounds he thought had healed.

Thalassa’s frustration was growing by the second, but so was her confusion. If what he was saying was true and he truly had the pictures verified, then how were they not proven to be fake?

“I don’t care what some ‘top‘ professionals say. All I know is that I’ve never even met that man in the picture, so how could I have fucked him?” She sneered. “Like I already said, on the night before our wedding, I went out with Karen and-”

She trailed off as the events of that night began rolling through her mind. She remembered how hard Karen had insisted that they needed to go out and have some fun to celebrate her upcoming wedding.

Karen’s idea of fun had been going to the club. Yet, even when Thalassa had refused, Karen had insisted until she finally gave in.

Thalassa remembered suddenly feeling all groggy at the club, which wasn’t right since she’d only drunk one glass of martini. When it became too much to bear, she’d told Karen that she wanted to go home.
