Chapter 82

The next morning, in her holding cell, Karen was going crazy as she paced up and down. Every once in a while, she screamed,

“This is an injustice! Get me the fuck out of here! I don’t belong here! This is an injustice. I haven’t done anything!”

She was sharing the cell with two other women. It disgusted her so much that she had to share the place with actual criminals.

“Sweetheart, shut your mouth, or I’ll shut it for you,” one of the women finally snapped. “Can’t you see we’re trying to think?”

“But I’m innocent!” Karen protested. “They’re framing me

The other woman rolled her eyes. “That’s what we all say. It’s like a game we know we can never win, yet we still keep playing.”

“No, I’m serious. I’m innocent. They’re framing me for something I didn’t do. Haven’t you seen how they’ve even refused me the phone call I’m entitled to?”

“We don’t give a fuck, princess,” the other woman hissed, eager for Karen to shut up. “You might be wearing fancy clothes, but in here, we’re all the same. So, show us some respect and shut your mouth like a good girl, or we’ll give you a taste of what prison’s like before you’re even transferred.”

Karen scrunched her face in disgust but was wise enough to stay quiet, knowing the woman’s threat wasn’t an

empty one.

Just then, a police officer walked up to their door and unlocked it. A huge smile of relief spread across Karen’s face. Finally, this nightmare was about to end.

Immediately, she tried to walk past the officer, but he pushed her back so forcefully that she nearly fell.

“What the fuck did you think you were trying to do?” the cop questioned, his hand resting on his taser.

Karen was deeply confused. “But you came to release me, so what have I done wrong?”

“Release you?” The officer chuckled. “You have big dreams princess.‘

Then he looked at one of the other women. “Your bail’s been paid. Come sign out and get the fuck out of here.”

The woman didn’t show the slightest bit of excitement, which made Karen stare at her in horror. It was as if she was used to it.

The cop gave Karen one last glare before locking the door. Karen was shoved into another bout of misery and agitation.

“Where is my phone call? I know I have a right to a phone call, so I demand it now! Ugh!”
