“That’s part of it,” Rosalie said frankly. “I’m no saint. I won’t help those who frame me or even innocent people again and again. As long as Fiona bears my identity, she won’t feel at ease and would want to deal with me. I have already considered the consequences the moment I told Calvin the truth.”

“Innocent?” Jonathan scoffed. “Do you really believe that Lucas is innocent? You’re a lawyer, aren’t you? Shouldn’t you trust the evidence instead? Now, all the evidence points to Lucas.”

“I do,” Rosalie said calmly. “Evidence is nothing more than how things appear, anyway. If you read too much into these appearances, it may lead to the wrong conclusions. Isn’t that true with my case?”
