Chapter 23 Mr. Smith Embarrasses Himself Again

Nicholas couldn't care less about Sophia's sweet talk; he just saw the disgust in his eyes.

He thought, 'Why would Michael marry such a scheming woman?' but he kept his mouth shut.

Emily was bored out of her mind and dragged Abigail back to their room.

"Michael didn't tell Mr. Jackson you're his wife. How do you feel about that?" Abigail teased with a grin.

"I don't feel anything. Stop gossiping and get some rest. We're leaving tomorrow." Emily shooed Abigail back to her room.

But Emily couldn't shake off what Abigail said. She looked down at her belly and whispered, "Baby, are you mad?"

As if the baby could hear her, she suddenly felt nauseous and rushed to the bathroom to throw up.

Meanwhile, Michael was deep in a discussion about Moonlit Treasures with Nicholas. Out of nowhere, he stood up, looking pale, and bolted to the bathroom.

Nicholas and Sophia were caught off guard, but Andrew quickly stepped in, "Sorry, Mr. Jackson, Mr. Smith might be feeling a bit unwell. Let's wrap this up for today."

Nicholas was puzzled but respectful and left without pressing further. Sophia, on the other hand, wasn't so easily convinced.

"Andrew, what's wrong with Michael?" Sophia asked, looking worried. As Michael's right-hand man, Andrew knew the truth but couldn't spill the beans.
