Chapter 517 Meeting Late at Night

"I came here to see Dean," Celeste said bluntly, noticing Murray's lukewarm reception. Who wanted to waste time with small talk in this miserable weather?

Celeste knew their so-called old friendship was just a front. What really mattered was money. With that in mind, she dismissed her driver and glanced towards the Emerald City Police Department.

She then pulled a bank card from her handbag and discreetly slipped it into Murray's hand while they talked.

"Just a little something to show my appreciation. It's been a while since we last met. Congrats on your promotion! Sorry I missed your party."

Murray took the card without a change in expression. He looked at Celeste, his facial muscles twitching slightly as if he was trying to smile or maybe sneer.

Murray understood the situation but pretended to be indifferent. He asked softly, "Dean, huh? What did he do?"

Celeste was momentarily stunned. She hadn't expected the usually diligent Murray to be unaware of Dean's charges.

Did this mean there was a better chance of getting Dean out on bail?

If she could bail him out, she could renegotiate the deal with Smith Corporation.

After all, this was the deputy chief of police's decision. If Michael was unhappy, would he really appeal again?

That would make him seem unreasonable and overbearing!

Thinking this, a sly glint flashed in Celeste's eyes, and she smiled sincerely. "It's just some young people's quarrel, a trivial dispute. They were all drunk, and both sides are at fault."

"Unfortunately, Dean doesn't know how to pick his battles. We all know better, but he had to go up against the biggest family in Emerald City, the Smiths. He's just asking for trouble!"

In just a few sentences, Celeste subtly informed Murray that the dispute was only because of the Smith family's influence, and Dean was suffering unjustly.
