Chapter 1745

Aurora laid into Craig the moment she walked in, her words sharp and relentless. For a guy that tall, he looked incredibly small, shoulders hunched, staring at the floor, taking her lecture without a single word of protest.

She let out a long breath, trying to calm herself. Turning around, she realized Quentin had already slipped out.

Rubbing her temples, Aurora felt a headache coming on.

"I was trying to drive you home, and you went and got a fever halfway there! You were practically delirious-I didn't have a choice but to bring you to the hospital! Do you have any idea how heavy you are? There's no way I could move you by myself. I had to call someone for help!"

If anyone else had been available, she wouldn't have called Quentin. It wasn't about jealousy or anything like that—she just didn't want Craig running into people from her new life after the divorce. She felt like the two of them should stay out of each other's worlds now. That was how it was supposed to be.

"I don't like him," Craig muttered after a long silence.

"He just helped out, that's all! Whether you like him or not isn't the point. If you think I shouldn't have called Quentin, then fine-I'm sorry, okay? You're awake now, you can call your own friends to help. I'm leaving."

But as Aurora turned to go, Craig grabbed her wrist and held on tight, refusing to let go. The spot where the IV had been was bleeding again, a bright red dot blooming on his pale skin.

"Let go, Craig!"
