Patrick's actions made it clear to Vera that he despised her. In the Olteran family, her father-in-law no longer liked her, and her husband ignored her. She sighed wearily and went back to her room.

The decorations in the room seemed ironic to Vera. She straightened the sofa but didn't touch anything else in the house. Then she closed her eyes and lay down on the sofa.
