She never imagined Janet could be so reckless or that her own son could be so callous, driving without a second thought for Janet's safety. Luckily, Janet had been at the side of the car, not in front of it. Had Janet been in front of the car, she might have been hit and thrown into the air.

"Aunt, it hurts so much!" Janet clung to Clarisse, tears streaming down her face. "It hurts, Aunt. Why would Charles do this to me? He's found someone else. He's got another girl.
