Vanessa

The ride to my father's house is silent for the first few minutes and each time that I look over at Dominic, he still looks troubled. I still assume it's because of the reaction from his parents. I try my best to mind my own business but it starts getting to me as this involves my father as well.

"Hey," I say to him, shifting in my seat.

"What is it?" His tone is just a little irritated but I still understand.

"That was scary back there."

He huffs. "I know. Imagine how I felt when they said all that."

"So... what will you do now?" I ask.

He sighs heavily. "I was thinking about that and I think I have something."

"You do?" My eyes widen.

He nods with hesitation. "I'm still not yet sure about it but it's the only thing I can think of."

I hold my breath, wondering what he has planned but he doesn't say it, which leaves me even more curious.

"Well, you'll only find out later," he says.

I lean back in my seat, feeling a little frustrated as I can't figure it out on my own.

We get to my father's house fifteen minutes later and I didn't even bother to call him to tell him that I was already on the way since he would still be home.

He quickly steps out and walks over to the other side to open the door for me. My heart flutters as it seems he's no longer doing this because he's my husband and we should put on a show, but because he's the man who's the father of this precious baby.

Placing my hand in his, he leads me inside as he says, "This reminds me of something. I spoke to your dad about him moving in with us."

"Really? You did that?" I stop in my tracks.

He nods with disappointment, "Yes, I did and I thought he would agree to it, but he prefers staying here. He thinks he'll be a burden to us."

"That's not true."

"That's what I said to him. He still said no."

Amazed by his efforts, I look to the side, my lips curving into a smile. I would have never thought he would do such a thing.

We get inside the house and I hear a few voices, making me furrow my eyebrows as I look at Dominic.

"Does your dad have visitors or something?" he asks.

"That sounds like it."
