Chapter 159

He would kick out his dreary old wife and three daughters to make room for some young, beautiful girl who could bear a son for him. That was all he could think about. He strutted back to his motorcycle, completely ignoring Evelyn, and sped off into the distance. Evelyn lay there on the ground, watching helplessly as the motorcycle, carrying the last remnants of Charlie's promise. As it faded from her view, tears trickled down her cheeks. "Charlie..."

Seconds turned into minutes as Evelyn lay on the cold, unforgiving ground, her body slowly numbing from the chill. Her tears dried, then welled up again, a never-ending cycle. After what felt like an eternity, she drifted into unconsciousness and slipped into a coma.

As soon as Aiden got Charles' call, he rushed over to Evelyn's location. But when he arrived, she was nowhere to be seen.

Aiden got out of his car. He called out Evelyn's name, searching both sides of the road, and there was no answer. Heading back to his car, he tried calling Charles, but the call went unanswered until it disconnected on its own.

He remembered that before Charles had asked him to pick up Evelyn, he'd instructed him to send someone to rescue Dahlia first. Charles was probably not picking up because he was busy taking care of Dahlia.

Aiden decided not to try again. Instead, he planned to contact others to help find Evelyn. He'd always assumed Charles didn't care much for Evelyn, but after witnessing Charles bend his own rules for her at Greenrose, he realized she was important to him-more so than even Dahlia, who was supposed to be the love of his life.
