Chapter 161

Upon hearing that Evelyn was in trouble and at the hospital, Charles jumped into his car and floored it, racing to get there.

Evelyn alone in the middle of nowhere, none of this would have happened.

The moment Charles arrived, he spotted Brooks trying to make an unwelcome move on Evelyn. From the instant Brooks had found Evelyn and saw her in such a sorry state, a fiery rage had flared up inside him, and he pointed straight at Charles. If Charles hadn't left Brooks managed to stand up, using Charles' force to his advantage. Seeing Brooks back off, Charles loosened his grip. But then, out of nowhere, Brooks swung a fierce punch at Charles. The punch was lightning-fast, catching Charles completely off guard. Brooks, who was usually the epitome of a gentleman and never raised a hand in anger, had packed a mighty punch. Charles stumbled back a step, regaining his footing while tasting blood in his mouth. A dangerous glint flickered in his eyes, making his expression icier than ever. He lifted his hand, ready to hit back.

Before he could make a move, Evelyn, who knew Charles all too well, sprang up from the bed, staggered down, and positioned herself between him and Brooks. Charles' eyes widened in shock, and he instantly pulled back his punch, stopping just shy of hitting Evelyn. He was mere inches away from her.

"Evelyn!" he shouted.

"Evelyn!" Brooks echoed, equally shocked, quickly pulling her into his arms and looking at her with deep concern. "Are you alright?"
