Chapter 173

Charlie was gone, and once Evelyn became Charles' sister, any hope of her being with him faded away. It would have been seriously off-limits a total no-go.

Ever since Dahlia started dating Charles, this was the first time she had joined the Jenkins family for dinner. The thought that after today, she'd officially be Charles' girlfriend, then his fiancée, and eventually his wife, had her grinning from ear to ear. Rosa wasn't fond of Dahlia and opted out of dinner, choosing instead to take Evelyn back to her own place for a meal. Dahlia shrugged it off. She wondered how much longer Rosa could stick around.

After dinner with Rosa, Evelyn decided not to stay the night. Rosa arranged for a car to take her home. Evelyn didn't go through the main hall and caught a snippet of Charles talking as she passed by. "I'm planning to add Sandy to the family tree." Hearing this, Evelyn clenched her fists. Charlie was five, and Charles had never once considered putting her on the family tree. Did he really never see Charlie as his daughter?

"Hmm." Patrick didn't say a word against it. Evelyn's eyes turned icy. Did Sandy really deserve it? She didn't hang around and quickly made her exit. As she flitted past the door, Charles noticed her.

"Sandy is still waiting at home for you. Do you want me to drive you back?" Dahlia had been planning her night ever since dinner and was itching to leave. Charles offered, and she got up to bid Patrick goodbye, then linked her arm with Charles' as they headed out. They were officially together now, and tonight, she was set on having Charles stay. Charles had no excuse to turn her down anymore. As she thought about the evening, Dahlia felt a thrill of excitement.
