Evelyn left with Wesley from the charming little town of Rosewood. Brooks was waiting at the entrance. The moment he spotted her, he hurried over. Despite having listened to everything outside and knowing Evelyn was fine, he couldn't help but give her a once-over, just to be sure. Charles stepped out just in time to see Evelyn getting into Brooks' car and driving away, a dark expression clouding

his eyes.

Back at Brooks' villa, Wesley was reeling from the day's events. He sat in a corner of the couch, head in hands, silent and withdrawn. Evelyn sat across from him. "Wesley," she said.

He ignored her, not bothering to look up or respond. Unfazed, Evelyn continued calmly, "If I hadn't taken you away today, you know what would have happened to you."

"I'm not some saint who helps someone who once tried to kill me without a good reason."

Wesley's grip on his head tightened. "You know what I want. You have a day to think about what you can offer me to keep helping you."
