Chapter 489

Seven years ago, Evelyn managed to win over Charles's heart, even with Charlie, that little troublemaker, in the picture. Despite the mix-ups and not realizing Evelyn was actually Debbie, Charles still fell for her and cared deeply for Charlie too. If Evelyn could pull it off, so could she. She was sure she was just as good as Evelyn, if not better.

"Charles, please don't be mad; I won't touch you," Dahlia said, stepping back, her eyes filled with longing as she looked at Charles, whose face was as cold as ice. "Don't blame Sandy; she didn't know anything."

"It was me. I love you so much, and I want to be with you so badly that I put something in the drink Sandy gave you."

"Charles, I really love you. I can't live without you. I was desperate, and this was the only way left."

"Please, don't be angry. If I had another option, I wouldn't have done it."

Charles didn't even acknowledge Dahlia's words. He had just one thing on his mind: getting out of there. Seven years ago, he'd been caught out like this once before. That night, under the influence of a drug, he'd completely lost control.

He swore he'd never let that happen again. If he touched Dahlia, any chance with Eve would be gone.

This realization brought a bit of clarity back to him. Without a second thought, he turned to leave.

Dahlia didn't try to stop him, just watched as he walked away and then turned to Sandy. "Sandy, go upstairs and get some sleep."
