Just as Gianna and Caroline had stepped foot into the apartment, Dean was on them like a shot, shoving a luxury suite key
card into Gianna’s hand.
“Get a move on, Gianna, get yourself spruced up and see Mr. Lee. I’ve been begging him before he finally agreed to give you another shot. This is the room key. You better make da mn sure you treat Mr. Lee like royalty, you hear me? This is our family’s last roll of the dice.
Words poured out of Dean’s mouth, his eyes bloodshot as if he was a drowning man clinging onto his last straw.
“Dad! What the hell are you talking about? I have slept with William. His cold feet about marrying me is all down to that b tch Olivia. Once he wakes up to what’s going on, he’ll remember how good he had it with me. I’ve been by his side for five solid years, there’s no way he doesn’t have feelings for me.”
Gianna was in full blown denial, tossed the room key, collapsed to the floor, shrieking, her eyes wild and bloodshot as if she was about to lose consciousness.
“P ak!”
While Gianna was still trying to spin her own narrative, a sharp slap across the face brought her back to reality, the impact left her seeing stars.
“Gianna, get your head out of the clouds. The guy you were with that night wasn’t William, he even showed the surveillance footage, there’s no way in hell he’ll have anything to do with you now!”
Dean glared at Gianna, disgust etched across his face as if the girl lying on the floor wasn’t his own daughter, but a bi tch.
“Now, get your act together, take the surveillance footage Mr. Kinsman released, go find Mr. Lee and beg for his mercy. There might still be a glimmer of hope for the Clarke family. After all, he is quite satisfied with your performance that day.”
Dean was too fed up to waste any more breath on Gianna, he roughly yanked her up by the arm.
“What did you say? The guy I was with that night was Wayne Lee? That fat, dumb idiot?!”
The video didn’t show the man’s face, but it was clear from his physique, noticeably bulkier than William. It was obvious that he was not William at all.
Gianna clapped her hands over her ears, screaming at the top of her lungs, refusing to accept that all her scheming had been for naught, that she hadn’t slept with William, but instead had been raped by Wayne Lee.
“Why? Why was Wayne Lee there? And he… Why the hell did this happen?”
With Dean hell-bent on selling his daughter. down the river, Gianna was out of options. She turned her hopeful eyes towards Caroline.
Caroline, however, took a step back, evading her outstretched hand. “Gigi, I think your father’s got a point. You should just go along with his plan.”

Caroline’s icy words echoed in Gianna’s ears. She felt like she had just been thrown into an ice pit. Trembling, she picked herself up off the floor and dashed into her room.
An hour later.
News of Gianna’s suicide over a broken heart flooded the media.
“What’s the story behind the charitable Black Widow’s attempt at committing suicide?!”
“After being left high and dry, the Black Widow, Gianna, was driven into a corner!”
The news of Gianna being abandoned by Mr. Kinsman hadn’t even cooled off yet, and now the news of her suicide bid is making waves all over Twitter.
The news of Gianna’s suicide attempt shot like a rocket into the top three trending topics on Twitter, and the heat was only growing.
At this very moment, Gianna, lying in her hospital bed, had her wrist swathed in layers of bandages hiding nothing more than a superficial cut. It was so shallow, it didn’t even nick a vein.
This entire suicide melodrama was nothing but whitewashing herself.
Upon seeing his daughter lying on the bed playing possum, Dean didn’t spare a moment.
He soon approached Wayne Lee with the surveillance footage released by the William.

“Mr. Lee, there’s been a misunderstanding. Gianna mistook you for William, and when she found out the truth, she felt so embarrassed that she tried to commit suicide. She’s in the hospital, unconscious as we speak!”
Dean played the video on a loop in front of Wayne Lee. His mouth was full of nonsense, and the story was made up so real that it seemed as if Gianna had really tried to end her life over him.
“Really?”
Wayne Lee, who had seen the surveillance footage online, was taken aback and slightly moved when he heard that Gianna had almost sacrificed her life for him.
He has a glint of surprise too.
Although Gianna wasn’t exactly a paragon of virtue, she was a looker, and her sex skills were not too shabby either.
Wayne Lee, a rich pla yboy lacking both brains and looks, was just the type to fall for such a woman.
“As sure as eggs are eggs, you can check it out for yourself. Gianna’s still in the hospital!”
Seeing his plan working, Dean doubled down on his theatrics.
Wayne Lee, who was no match for Dean’s Oscar-worthy performance, was soon running around like a headless chicken, “Tell Gianna I’m big-hearted and I forgive her. Let her recuperate, and I promise to treat her right in the future.”
Wayne’s mind was about to go blank, so he immediately decided to take responsibility for Gianna.
Dean was over the moon, further coaxing Wayne to shell out some cash to help the Clarke family out of financial crisis… While Dean was having the time of his life, Caroline wasn’t idle either. Sitting by the bedside, she was peeling an apple, trying to brainwash Gianna.
“The Lee family is also a big deal in Melburgh. Don’t be stubborn. Mr. Lee is as dumb as a box of rocks. Just sweet-talk him a bit, and he’ll be eating out of your hand. You can have anything you want in the future.
Caroline’s words hit the nail on the head, and Gianna’s vacant eyes sparkled with renewed determination.

Though the Lee family can’t hold a candle to the Kinsman family, they’re a sight better than the Clarke Corporation.

Joy practically radiated off Caroline when she heard this. She didn’t even bother with the apple she was peeling and rushed to share the good news with Dean.
After a bit of chinwag, they went ahead and announced Gianna’s engagement to the Lee family.
Olivia finally shook off the greasy feeling left by William and didn’t even bring the well-acted Ezra back home. She decided to head home and just chillax, to digest her ill feelings.
Little did she expect to receive a trending topic feed on Twitter before she even made it home.
“Heh, suicide? Gianna’s played all kinds of tricks.”
A cold smirk curled up the corners of Olivia’s mouth. She didn’t buy for a minute that Gianna would be willing to commit suicide.
Just as Olivia was about to throw some shade in the comments, she spotted a bombshell – someone spilling the beans that Gianna and Wayne Lee were engaged and would tie the knot soon.
