Queenie said, "That's what they told me, but honestly, I can't be sure it was really them."

Coleman shot Stella a meaningful look before pressing further. "Why would they want to hurt Aurora's hand?"

Unfamiliar with the Williams family's tangled affairs, Queenie didn't catch the implication in Coleman's tone.

She replied, "Didn't the doctor say Aurora's hand is going to be fine? It won't affect her playing the violin, or stop her from racing, or doing any of her work. Whoever targeted her hand probably just wanted to torment her."

Coleman faltered, at a loss for words.

The doctors had already examined Aurora's injuries-no broken bones, no internal damage. The cuts on her fingers looked bad and must have hurt, but with proper care, she would recover quickly.

After making her customary visit to check in on Aurora, Stella soon headed out.

She had barely stepped outside the hospital when a sweet, lively voice called out behind her.
