“Right away!” Beata replied, then leaned back into the doorway with a twinkle in her eye. “The hot water is ready. Just let us know if you need assistance–we’re right outside.”

Adelaide deliberately ignored the hint of teasing in Beata’s eyes. “No need for assistance. You may all retire early.”

“Alright,” Beata withdrew, instructing the others to leave as well, even excusing themselves from helping with the night clothes.

Everyone happily complied–though they’d eaten their fill, the kitchen still boasted plenty of pastries and dishes.
