Chapter 49

Christopher sat in his wheelchair and looked up at her.

His gaze was calm, but if one looked closely, there was a hint of joy and anticipation in his eyes.

“Miss Dalton,” Randolph called out as he had his hands in his pockets, a mocking smile tugging at his lips. “What do you mean by this?”

“The literal meaning.” Hailey replied coolly.

“What is your relationship with Christopher? What right do you have to stop us from taking him away?” Samantha asked directly.

“No particular relationship,” Hailey replied as she tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, revealing her slender, fair neck. Her expression remained calm and indifferent as she added, “But right now, Christopher cannot leave with you. Moreover, he does not want to go with you.”

With such an arrogant and overbearing attitude, anyone who saw her would want to slap her.

Of course, that was only if they could actually win against her..

Randolph turned to Christopher. Though he appeared to be asking, his tone made it clear that it was an order. “Christopher, you’re running a high fever. We need to take you back for treatment. Your health is not good, and this hospital does not understand your condition. It is safer for you to return home.”

Christopher, who had been silent just moments ago, suddenly changed his stance.

He shook his head and said, “No need. I want to stay here. It’s just a fever; it will subside soon.”

Randolph’s expression shifted. He glanced at Hailey, then suddenly let out a cold chuckle. “Miss Dalton, I don’t know what method you used to make Christopher listen to you so obediently, but let me give you a piece of advice–it’s best if you stay out of Blackwell family matters. Do not think that just because you are a Dalton, you can do whatever you please.”

Hailey spread her hands innocently and responded, “Mr. Blackwell, what does this have to do with me? I just happen to know what you have done to Christopher. So, seeing an injustice, I decided to lend a hand.”

“Then you had better make sure you actually have the ability to wield that sword,” Randolph replied, his carried a low warning.

Hailey raised an eyebrow slightly.

Samantha, who had been listening in confusion, could not help but ask, “Randolph, is Christopher really not coming with us?”

Randolph took a deep breath and uttered, “Since Christopher wants to stay, then let him stay. Mom, let’s go home.”

After saying that, Randolph pulled Samantha along and left.

The surrounding onlookers murmured among themselves in hushed voices.

Hailey walked over and pushed Christopher’s wheelchair, helping him reprocess his hospitalization. “Focus on recovering first. Then, move out of the Blackwell residence. I will help you find a place to stay,” Hailey said.
