“Huh? This criminal is living in a mansion?" Austin frowned.

He went closer and noticed the gate was wide open.

"They don't even have anyone guarding the place? Aren't they worried he might escape?"

Austin entered the mansion and immediately saw two people in the living room. One of them was young and handsome, sitting on the couch, and the other was a middle-aged man, standing respectfully opposite the young man.

The middle-aged man was Liam, the chief of police.

Ethan had called him over yesterday to arrest Rory, and today, Liam was back to finish up some paperwork. Catching Rory had been a major achievement.

Hearing footsteps, Liam turned around and spotted Austin. Not recognizing him, Liam assumed he was a friend of Ethan's and quickly wrapped up his notes. "That will be all. I'll be on my way," Liam said, gathering his things to leave.

Rory was sentenced to death already, but Liam wanted to interrogate him more, hoping to get more information.

Austin watched as Liam left before he switched his attention back to Ethan on the couch.
